You may have a parent, guardian, mentor, counselor, academic advisor, or another individual who needs to view your Canvas courses and grades. In Canvas, we call these users as “Observers” and as a student, you can get a pairing code linking an observer to your Canvas account. Pairing codes can also be created through the Canvas Student App. 

 

Obtaining a Pairing Code from Account Settings

      1. In Global Navigation, click the Account link.
      2. Click on the Settings link.
      3. Click the 'Pair with Observer' button.
      4. Copy or write down the pairing code (codes are case sensitive).
      5. Click the 'OK' button to close the window.
      6. Share the code with the observer.

 

A few notes about pairing codes:

  • Codes expire after seven days
  • Once the code is used, it cannot be used by another person
